... most memorable second places.
#5 Siracusa (season 56)
His one chance to shine, but George Neacsu is beaten by an inch in Classico di Siracusa
#4 Copa Salsa (season 64)
Reynardo Ceballos, double winner of Copa Salsa de Cali, wins stage 1 and 3 of the cup, but ends disappointingly 6th in stage 2. Leif Johannesen takes advantage and their tie in points in the GC is called in the advantage of Leif.
#3 Valparaiso SC (season 60)
The apple of my eye, Sima Ervin, never managed so far to win palmares for the team. His closest call might have been Vuelta a Valparaìso. He did everything right, but the GC competition is dominated by Samir Fath, who also takes home the SC accidently.
#2 Kangaroo (seasons 57+59)
What is Douglas Brasil doing in division 3? Right, stealing the jerseys/wins away from Silenzio in Kangaroo Tour. In two editions Rajnay Bela and Nordin Moerenhout end 2nd behind him seven times. Twice in GC, once in YC, four times in stages!
#1 Germany SC (season 63)
Gus Bailey is the best sprinter in the Germany Tour, but is beaten for the SC by FR-rider Ludovic Martell who wins both of the TTs and the final sprint!

I can add a couple more by now lol
Thanks! Its funny how Gus is funny enough a tricky rider for the palmares. He was the best "hiller" in both GT-editions he participated and once 2nd in the prologue, so I fail to see why he is a misfit. Problems for him would be much larger in Vuelta, Copa and any of the D1-sprintclassics. I am sure though some other managers could have made him win each single one of those :)
Love this post.
Gus is a beast and a fav rider of mine.
GT SC isn't just about raw sprints ;p
Sima Ervin is a really classy rider
